What are junior hockey skates?

Junior hockey skates are smaller versions of adult skates, designed to fit players in the 7-to-13-year age range and who wear a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5. The main difference between junior and youth hockey skates is size. Youth hockey skates are designed for the smallest players, from toddlers to kids about 8 or 9 years old, and who wear a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller. Junior hockey skates are the next size up, fitting players around the 7–13 age range, and who wear a US shoe size of 2 to 4.5. Stiffness is the other major difference. Youth skates are soft to develop strength and confidence on the ice. Junior skates tend to be stiffer because young players need to gain power and control in their strides at this level. How do I size junior hockey skates?
