For Fanatics Breakaways, you can order your normal T-shirt size, but be aware that the jersey will not fit like a T-shirt. Unless it’s a sale or clearance item, an authentic NHL jersey will run in the low triple digits. If you have found an NHL jersey for far less, it’s probably not officially licensed.

How to Wash a Hockey Jersey

Treat your jersey right—avoid bleach and heat, for starters—and your jersey will stay as amazing as it was the day you got it.

  1. If there is a garment care tag, follow the instructions on it.
  2. Presoak your jerseys. Put them in a bucket with lukewarm water, detergent (for stains), and baking soda (for smell). Leave them for an hour or overnight.
  3. Turn your jerseys inside-out to protect the lettering.
  4. Launder them alone or with other jerseys of similar colors. This not only keeps colors from bleeding, but it also keeps lint from cottony items like towels and T-shirts from sticking all over your jerseys.
  5. Use color-safe detergent and NO chlorine bleach, even on white jerseys. Chlorine bleach degrades the fabric and will give white polyester a yellowish cast. Oxygen-based bleaches, which are made specifically for color-safe laundry care, are ok.
  6. Wash on gentle in cool water.
  7. Hang to dry. It takes longer, but damage—including shrunken, misshapen jerseys with peeling letters and logos—can result from machine drying them.
